About Newm's Art Stop

I'm Adam Newman, and I've been creating New Orleans art to share the color, culture, and texture of this city since 2021. I fulfilled a lifetime dream when I moved here in July of 2020. While I wanted to immediately start making artwork of this city, I thought it best to take things in for a while and see what my version of New Orleans art would come naturally. It started with a watercolor painting of Gene's PoBoy.

After learning I was going to be a father in 2022, I decided that I would make more watercolors and sell the prints at pop-ups and art markets. My intent was to keep the art affordable, make some extra money while being the stay-at-home dad, and connect with the community in the process. In the summer of 2025 I opened this online shop to make it easier to share this work by offering shipping and local delivery.

Now, I also work and exhibit in the contemporary art space (newmanadamart.com) as well as serving as the Art Director at a nonprofit for adults with IDD. I’m always looking for ways to contribute in the community, and am open to any proposals of how I, or my art can contribute to any just cause so please let me know if you have something in mind.

In my first few weeks of living here, a man told me outside a cigar bar in the French Quarter that, “New Orleans is a place that if you love it, it will love you back.” I’ve never forgot that, and that is certainly what I want to do. I’m here to love this city and my neighbors, and I believe love is a practice.
